This Privacy Policy explains how CVSlate ("us", "we", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and platform (the "Services"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently. By using CVSlate, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and, for team accounts, your role within an organization.
- CV content: the information you enter into your CVs — such as your name, contact details, work experience, education, skills, and any photos you upload.
- Billing information: when you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We store a customer and subscription reference, but we do not store your full card number.
- Usage data: basic technical information such as your browser type, device, and interactions with the Services, used to operate and improve the platform.
How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- To create, store, translate, and export your CVs.
- To power AI-assisted suggestions when you choose to use them.
- To process subscriptions, payments, and renewals.
- To communicate with you about your account, security, and service updates.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
AI features and your data
When you use AI-assisted features, the relevant content may be sent to our AI provider solely to generate the requested suggestions. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not permit it to be used to train third-party AI models. You remain in control of any suggested content and decide what to keep. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers: trusted vendors who help us operate the platform (for example, hosting, payment processing, and AI processing), bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Team and educational accounts: if you join a team or accept an invitation from an educational institution, the relevant administrators may access CVs and usage information as described in our Terms of Service.
- Legal requirements: when required to comply with the law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Services.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, your CVs and associated content are deleted, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your information directly from your Account page, or contact us to exercise these rights.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as your chosen language). We aim to minimize non-essential tracking.
Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will provide notice as described in our Terms of Service. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
